Here's how it works. Finished exhaust components are cooked in an oven for one hour to burn off oils leftover from manufacturing. Next, the pipes are media blasted inside and out to remove oxidation, corrosion, and rust. Once blasted, the pipes are dipped in a series of chemical baths to prepare the surface for coating. Dry pipes are brushed internally and sprayed externally using a liquid ceramic coating. After curing in a controlled environment, pipes are baked in an oven at temperatures exceeding 600°. Once cooled, pipes are machine polished to a beautiful shine.
The process sounds straightforward, but in reality it takes serious equipment and trained craftsman to apply a mirror finish that will truly stick. We've chosen the Extreme Sterling coating for all of our exhaust systems. This coating is JET-HOT's brightest high-temperature coating. The finish resembles highly polished aluminum and can be polished with non abrasive aluminum polish. If your system ever gets dirty it can be washed with soap and water. Extreme Sterling is proven to last and will never change color.
Corrosion protection is one of ceramic coating's major benefits. No other coating can withstand temperatures this high without flaking, peeling, or melting. No other coating can withstand the salt spray and road debris like ceramic coating. Our exhaust systems are coated inside and out to create the ultimate corrosion barrier.
Extreme Sterling stands up to metal temperatures of 1700° and even higher exhaust gases temperatures. Under the hood, exhaust pipe temperatures are reduced by up to 400°, lowering under-hood and intake air temperatures. - When placing an order for your exhaust system, choose the ceramic coating option. Pricing is listed below for all systems and will also be listed on the ordering page.
- Once built and ready for shipping, your exhaust will be shipped directly to JET-HOT. Shipping takes 2 business days. Once received and processed, JET-HOT gets to work. The coating process takes a bare minimum of 3-4 working days to complete.
- Once coated, your exhaust system complete with gaskets and any additional hardware is shipped directly to your doorstep. Shipping times are dependent on your distance from the East coast. Typically the entire process takes 2 weeks from the day we ship your system to the day you receive it. During this time the progress of your system can be tracked by emailing us.
Why is the wait so long?
The ceramic coating process itself takes a bare minimum or 3-4 working days to complete. It's infinitely more involved than a quick paint job. Accounting for transportation times and any cues at the coating shop, we have to estimate our turn-around times high. Realistically, it takes about 2 weeks from the day we ship to the day you receive it coated. We may have the system you need coated in stock. While it would be impossible for 42 to stock all of our exhaust products ceramic coated, at times we have complete systems available. Shoot us an email to ask about coated stock.

Accounting for occasional variances, our price passes only the raw cost onto you, the customer. A note about the wait time
Wait times can vary. If you have a firm deadline please let us know ahead of time so that we can act accordingly. JET-HOT is very reliable, but is subject to the same delays as anyone in the business - holidays that fall on business days, shipping delays, government holidays, equipment malfunctions, internal miscommunications, Murphy's law, etc. Please keep in mind that your system typically will not ship the same day your order is placed.
