High Intensity LEDs

42's plug & play LEDs have found uses in many locations inside and out a modern VW. Whether used in gauges, interior lights or city lights they have proven themselves as a reliable way to change light color and brightness. In some cases LED lighting provides a brighter light than the OEM bulb. In other cases LED lighting comes up short. Consider those cases resolved!

By popular demand we have developed a truly bright LED replacement. We're not talking about a slightly brighter cluster of LEDs. Our high intensity LEDs are truly intense. In any of the colors or fitments available these LEDs produce crisp colored light at over twice the brightness of our standard LEDs. We're not slinging the sales pitch either. Theses LEDs are bright enough to trigger an auto-darkening welding helmet. We DO NOT recommend looking directly into a lit high intensity LED. Doing so will leave you seeing spots for 20 minutes.

Our High Intensity LEDs are available in wedge style, fuse style, and push & turn style!

High Intensity 194 Wedge Style LEDs

High Intensity 194 LED fitment is nearly identical to our standard 194 wedge style LEDs. These LEDs are slightly longer and fatter, but still fit in all locations - city lights, interior lights and all gauges. Any application that requires a 194 wedge style LED will fit a high intensity 194 wedge style LED.

The picture above shows a blue high intensity LED next to our standard blue LED. The picture is underexposed in order to show the contrast. Without underexposing the picture it would be impossible to photograph the LEDs. In basic terms - this picture purposely shows both LEDs less bright than real life.

Like our high intensity wedge style LEDs, our high intensity fuse style LEDs are seriously bright. By packing nine 5mm LEDs into a custom lens and housing we are able to provide fuse style LED light more than twice as bright as our standard fuse style LEDs. Also capable of triggering an auto-darkening welding helmet, we DO NOT recommend looking directly into a lit high intensity fuse style LED.

Fitment of our high intensity fuse style LEDs is not as simple as the 194 wedge style. These LEDs are significantly larger in size than our standard fuse style LED and may not fit in all locations. We have installed these in popular locations and also provide measurements below. Please check our application guide below or measure your specific light before ordering!

High Intensity push & turn style LED fitment is nearly identical to our standard push & turn style LEDs. These LEDs are slightly larger in diameter and shorter in length, but still fit in all locations where our standard push & turn LEDs fit. Any application that requires a push & turn style LED will fit a high intensity push & turn style LED. BA9S vs. BAx9S differences still apply.
