Clean up your engine bay!
The first step to a well organized engine bay is throwing out all those T-fittings! Mis-matched tubing, funny hose clamps, and weird reducers can be things of the past with a vacuum manifold. The concept is simple - one major vacuum source feeds a distribution manifold capable of supplying vacuum to any accessory. Couple that simplicity with a clean look and centralized tubing routes and you've just re-organized your engine bay like a pro racing team.

Our vacuum manifolds are CNC machined from 6061 aluminum. Unlike other vacuum manifolds, every side of our manifolds have been machined flat and precise. Every edge and corner has been rounded-over. Our ports are drilled, tapped, and chamfered on our CNC machines. The result in all this work is a manifold that offers precise fitment and a truly clean look. Our CNC finish can be quite shiny, so each manifold is also available in texture black powdercoat for a stealth look.

We offer our vacuum manifolds in two fitments. Our standard vacuum manifold is designed to bolt to a flat surface such as the firewall, battery box, engine cover, etc. This manifold has 1 input port and 4 output ports. Our inline vacuum manifold is designed to be spliced into a major vacuum line. This manifold has 2 input ports and 4 output ports. All input ports are tapped 1/4" NPT and all output ports are tapped 1/8" NPT. Both manifolds measure 7/8" square and 3 1/2" long (standard) 3 7/8" long (inline).

Included with each kit is an assortment of tubing, fittings and hardware which allow for universal installation. The tubing is our new flexible black tubing used in our updated boost gauge tubing kits. With each vacuum manifold 20+ feet of tubing is included in 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4" ID sizes. The fittings included are injection molded from a glass-filled nylon polymer. This same material is used on OEM VW coolant, PCV, and fuel fittings. This means the fittings are tough and will never rust or corrode. All of our tubing and fittings are black... a surprisingly difficult task to achieve.

What's the difference between 42's vacuum manifold and inline vacuum manifold?

Each manifold mounts differently, connects differently, and includes different input tubing and fittings. Our manifolds are designed for universal installation, so in every case you must decide where to install the manifold and which type to use. Let's go into further detail about each type to help you decide.

Vacuum Manifold

  • Our standard vacuum manifold is designed to mount to a flat surface, on or off the engine. This flat surface can be your firewall, the side of your battery box, within or on the side of an engine cover, etc. Additional brackets can be made to install the manifold in odd locations (on curves, under objects, hidden, etc).
  • Our standard vacuum manifold has 1 input fitting. This means the manifold will connect to an existing vacuum source by T-fitting or a spare barb. For truly custom installations such as ITB and custom intake manifolds, one hole can be drilled/tapped in the manifold to feed the manifold.

Inline Vacuum Manifold

  • Our inline vacuum manifold is designed to splice into an existing major vacuum line. On most vehicles there is at least one major vacuum line which runs through the engine bay. In most VW's there is a major line which runs from the intake manifold to the brake booster. By splicing our inline manifold into an existing line the manifold is self-supported.
  • Our inline vacuum manifold has 2 input fittings. Technically the second fitting is an output fitting, but the inline reversible nature of the manifold allows us to get simple and call both fittings input. In order to install this manifold in an inline fashion, your engine must have a major vacuum line to splice into. Multiple sizes and configurations of input fittings are included to fit this manifold in almost any vehicle.

How is 42's vacuum manifold different from others on the market?

Our vacuum manifold is different because we make it. What that means is our product is truly thought-out and complete from initial design to final packaging. Here are a few things to consider:

  • Our vacuum manifolds are 100% CNC machined, unlike other manifolds which consist of a saw-cut length of aluminum extrusion drilled and tapped.
  • Our manifold is available in our raw CNC finish or wrinkle black powdercoat. Our CNC finish is the closest thing you can get to polished without a buffing wheel. Our powdercoat finish is more substantial and more durable than an anodized finish.
  • Our manifolds include fittings. Some of the manifolds on the market include fittings. Those that do include white plastic fittings - just enough to hook a few things up. What sizes do they include? Finding fittings at your local hardware store isn't as easy and cheap as everyone on the internet says it is.
  • Our manifolds include tubing. To our knowledge, no vacuum manifolds available on the market include tubing. Our tubing is high quality, flexible, and black.
  • Not only do we include tubing and fittings - we include extra. We even include a variety of sizes.
  • The hardware in our kit is well thought out: stainless steel button head screws designed to fit flush, rubber washers, stainless lock nuts, etc.
  • Serious installation instructions are includes with each kit.
